Mooring field at City Dock
A City official confirmed this week that the problem with the opening up of the mooring field for transient boaters around the City Dock is because the state wants to restrict anchoring in the Bay, at all other places, if the "field" is approved. The City officials have balked at this. This is both good and bad. The good is that the field will probably get approved and the City will probably win and anchoring will still be allowed in the Bay. The Bad is that this just stalls the use of the mooring field again and it will probably lead to some compromise by the city and some anchoring restrictions. Royal Harbor visitors that come by boat will have to tie up at their friends docks or pay to dock at City dock or at one of the other Marinas. There is a 3 day stay period on Transient slips so boaters now must shuffel their boats from place to place to comply. More on this as it developes.
