Royal Harbor Dredging

City officials told me this week that the deredging project for the canals for Royal Harbor, Oyster Bay and Golden Shores was in the permitting stage. The innitial work of the actual survey of the bottom and collection of data by boat and from residents was completed. The engineering for the project is done and the permits have been applied for. This process may take up to a year or more. Funding will come from the East Naples Taxing district.
This project willenable boats with larger draft to access the canals at low time. (5 feet or more) although most canals are now dug to this depth, there are rocks that need to be removed to freely use them. I personally have hit a few and this is costly. At present most boaters watch the tides to gain ingress and egress to their docks.
